It is harder to get a new customer than it is to keep one.

 

Must customers  need to know  you, like you and trust you before they do business with you. This can be hard work on your part to woe them to your business. After all that work you would definitely want to keep them.

 

Some business places may be still closed as a result of the pandemic, however instead of complaining, take the time to maintain your customer data base.

 

– A quick call to see how they are going would go a long way with the relationship.

 

– Send them a thank you card. After all they have stayed with you for so long.

 

– Send them a birthday card, or  a card for some other event they may be celebrating. There are so many virtual cards that you can use.

 

– Have a sale just for your customer data base. They would feel very special or go through and see who are your longest customer relationships and send them a card or provide them with a discount.

 

Whatever you do keep in touch with your customers as you would need them when you re-open,

This week’s strategy – The one thing you must do.

Your industry may be closed, no money coming in, rent has to be paid, other monthly expenses must be paid, relationships not where you want them to be, the job is more stressful, working from home sucks, you can complain about everything but there is one thing that you must do.

 

You see we all want things to go well for us and our families. We all want a thriving business, good relationships at home and on the job. How are all these things going to happen? Business maybe closed now because of the pandemic but what is going to happen when business reopen? Are you going to keep whining and complaining until it is time to open?

 

If you want to get on with anything the one thing you must do is to  take action. Nothing is going to happen unless you do something, that is take action. Your business is not going to make it unless you take some action to get things going. You must review your strategy, your operations, your suppliers. Your relationship is not going to make it unless you take action. Relationships like everything else must be maintained. How are you going to do this? If they are shaky what is your plan to get them back together? The job is not going to get better unless you take action.  Do you need to look for another Job? Do you need to update your skills? What can you do in your present job differently? By now you get the point.

 

How you go about taking action is another story. You can’t just go and start doing things haphazardly.  You have to do some planning. You have to work on each challenge or issue to explore your options and  see what you could do. You have to work the issue – be specific about it, what is happening,  has it happened before? Has this happened to anyone else? Is this a past issue that you are worrying about or is it in  the future? How is it going to affect you?   What are the things in your control? What are the things you do not have control of?  What are the actions you could take to help resolve your challenges? Can you do it alone? Do you need help to explore your options?

How to decide which direction to take in your business or personal life?

Life could be daunting and at times you could get so overwhelmed with so many things hitting you at the same time, and there appears to be no way out. Well, that is not really true. I heard it said once that there are 500 options to one situation or problem so you could decide which direction to go by exploring an option or two.

 

As nature has it we were made to fight or flight. So either way we have to make a decision on which direction to take. Making rash decisions could sometimes cost you a lot of money and also cause business and personal relationship issues.

Here is the process for any decision you have to make:

 

1. Get a sheet of paper and divide into 4  and list the following:

 

2.What is the problem? Be as specific as you can.

 

3.Problems are either past or future . So is it in the past or the future?

 

4.Decide if you can do anything  about the problem – or if there is nothing you can do

 

5. Based on what you wrote in 5 take whatever action deemed necessary.

Also remember solving problems involve you looking at different examples in the past seeing how others deal with the problem and pulling the pieces together to see if there is anything you can use to solve your problem.

 

It also helps to be focus and practice being present when you are dealing with problems so you can come up with a solution that works for you. If you are not present chances are that you could make a decision that may not be what you are looking for.

THIS WEEK’S STRATEGIES – DON’T WAIT.

It is the beginning of a new month and a new quarter.

What do you plan to do to get the month and the quarter going?

In some places business is opening back up, are you going to wait until it is time for you to open?

Surely if you wait you are scheduled for the crumbs,  so don’t wait, you have to make a decision and go for the big goal. Think about three goals for your business this month and this quarter. Write them down, break them down in small activites and work on them daily.

Be sure to get all the distractions out of the way,  don’t wait, these could also be those distractions in your mind – nobody is buying, business is slow, I have no money for supplies as business was not open. Everyone is in the same boat so how am I going to get through.

You have to know that you are capable of great things. We all have the same number of hours in the day and skills we may not have even discovered that we have. Don’t wait by hanging around trying to figure out what to. Sit down and explore all the distractions and negatives and work on them one at a time  and get them out of the way.

Remember to focus. Focus on what is really important and urgent and what would drive the results you are looking for.
